Rancho Mirage, 2014

Reanimation Library, installation view,
Brooklyn, New York

A mirage interacts with an automatic sprinkler system in the city of Rancho Mirage, CA.

Mirages are supra-photographic—large-scale, open-air images whose media are earth, air, and sun. They exist before photography and after the digital, part of an image ecology that exceeds the frame. To study a mirage is to think about the mechanics of vision itself: how light bends, how perception wavers, how desire shapes what we believe we see.
